Govt. calls for private sector proposals for poverty alleviation

Ministry of Finance and Planning has called on corporate social responsibility proposals from the private sector companies with a pledge to take them to needy with the support of the ministries, Provincial Councils and local Government authorities.



The project proposals are to be considered under medium term development program for the two-year period from 2013 to 2015 and aim to further reduce poverty which is at 8.9 per cent now.

The Ministry has outlined several key areas for the projects. They include children and maternity care, health clinics, water supply, housing, sanitary facilities, pre-school, primary education, skills development in tourism and construction industries, employment creation, roads and other infrastructure.

The Ministry has requested the private sector to submit proposals before 25 January.
