Happy Sri Lankans, a digital community and collaborative platform which spreads Happiness and connects Sri Lankans in the country and all around the world, was launched recently.
The Chief Guest at the launch ceremony was Business Leader Dilith Jayaweera while the Guest of Honour was new generation PR practitioner, PR Wire Managing Director Ashan Kumar and other well-wishers at the Cinnamon Red Hotel in Colombo.
Happy Sri Lankans is a brainchild of Manoj Alwis, a Software Engineer and MBA holder. The co-founders of this engagement platform are Kasun Sameera, an IT graduate in the UK and a professional UI designer and Praveen Thanushka, a law student.
The site covers various topics ranging from #HappyLifestyle, #HappyPlaces and #HappyEntertainment to news, events and the latest fashion tips and community projects, capturing positive moments around the country and events of the Sri Lankan Diaspora across the world.
Speaking about the vision for Happy Sri Lankans, Alwis, Sameera and Thanushka in a joint statement said: “There are plans for the site to become one of the most engaging and up-to-date websites around, further connecting and showcasing the advantages of the positive use of technology. We started this project as a simple idea and it was the community around us which made it viral.
“We hope to create happy experiences and share them so every single Sri Lankan can be inspired. After all what is happiness without spreading it?”
The Happy team is also involved with social media marketing, branding, photography, videography and event management. Plans are being laid out to launch an online travel and tourism magazine. The team will also be launching the #HAPPYSRILANKANS printed magazine and a mobile application in the near future.
