Hayleys MGT Knitting Mills PLC, a major fabric manufacturer based in Sri Lanka, announced that it has successfully gone live with the world renowned SAP Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system to improve management control and enable service excellence.

The cotton and synthetic fabric manufacturer is the second company within the Hayleys Group to adopt SAP. During this implementation, Hayleys MGT integrated its legacy systems and consolidated all IT applications, and transformed and streamlined internal business processes and functions to bring in improved efficiencies, discipline and control, the company said.

Hayleys MGT partnered attune Consulting to support them in the SAP ERP implementation as well as a business transformation initiative. attune’s global experience together with its pre-configured template and tool sets helped incorporate organisational processes across the company covering  sales, sourcing, inventory and manufacturing. This enables Hayleys MGT to better manage planning of operations, forecasting seasonal demand, budgeting and material availability, measuring performance and reducing defects to optimally manage inventory. The entire project was completed in six months in line with the company’s original time frame and budget.

The investment is future oriented and reflects the company’s vision to enhance customer responsiveness and improve service delivery,” stated Hayleys MGT CEO Dr. Emerick Fernando.

I am confident that implementing international best practices such as SAP at Hayleys MGT is a significant step towards achieving business excellence.”

The company invested in capacity building for its staff, which was crucial to the successful implementation and utilisation of the product. “Employees at every level provided absolute support and commitment towards reaching this target, during the six month implementation period. I am proud of their achievement, a validation of our strategy to develop existing personnel,” reflected Dr. Fernando.
