Hemas declares open modern container terminal

Hemas Integrated Logistics Ltd. showcased its Inland Container Terminal and Services division to its customers and well-wishers recently. Hemas Transportation Managing Director Kasturi Chellaraja Wilson said: “With the national intent to make Sri Lanka a transportation hub, this is a one of many steps which we are focusing on, to be an integrated and integral partner in the logistics industry in the country to shipping lines and customers, in their export , import supply chain.”

Hemas Integrated Logistics Ltd. a BOI-approved venture was built in a record time of three months, the facility is situated on a six-acre land at Welisara, ideally located with the port of Colombo and two export processing zones in close proximity. Hemas Integrated Logistics Ltd. Managing Director Niranjan Nallaratnam said: “This is a unique facility and it is able to store and service over 3,000 TEUs at any time using state-of-the-art container handlers from the UK, storing empty containers seven-high and laden containers five high setting, new benchmark in the industry.” He added: “An important feature is the fully equipped container repair and service unit together with modern reefer-container plug-in points which enhances the overall services of the terminal, making it truly world-class in its service offering.” The container terminal is complemented by the largest fleet of empty container haulage vehicles operated by its parent, Hemas Logistics Ltd. Operations and services of the terminal are managed by an experienced team of professionals who have considerable insight and knowledge of the industry. In the future, the company intends to enhance the menu of services offered and intends to provide fully-fledged warehousing services as their next step.
