Hidellana Estate obtains all-time record price

At this week’s tea auction an invoice of D 1 grade from Hidellana Tea Factory, Ratnapura fetched an all-time Colombo Tea Auction record price of Rs. 700 per kg. 

The tea was purchased by Tea Tang Ltd., a leading buyer of well made, superior quality teas. This line of tea was sold through the catalogue of Lanka Commodity Brokers Ltd.

This estate is owned by Lalith Liyanage, Chairman of the diversified R T S Holdings Group of Ratnapura. He emphasised that “good manufacturing practices” were being observed at this factory which is one of the leading modernised tea processing units in the Sabaragamuwa Province, and that attention to detail is paid at every stage of manufacture with much importance placed on factory hygiene.
