A 10-member high level Japanese delegation representing leading banking and insurance companies such as Mitsubishi UFJ Bank, Sumitomo Mitsui Bank, Tokyo Marine Insurance and Sompo Japan Nipponkoa Insurance visited the Board of Investment recently.
UNI Apro Finance President Masakazu Tahara led the delegation with the participation of CEO and Regional Secretary of the Asia Pacific Region of UNI Apro Finance Christopher Ng.
They showed interest in investment opportunities available and the business climate of Sri Lanka. They also indicated interest in ascertaining the required legal framework for foreign companies to enter into the Banking and Insurance Industry of the country.
BOI Chairman Upul Jayasuriya and BOI Director General Duminda Ariyasinghe explained to the Japanese delegation the opportunities for investment in Sri Lanka.
Executive Director (Investment and Promotion) Renuka Weerakone and Assistant Director/Desk Officer for Japan Dhammike Basnayake were also associated with the meeting.
Insurance Board of Sri Lanka Director General Damayanthi Fernando and Central Bank Bank Supervision Department Additional Director S.K. Ranasinghe also participated and made presentations to provide an overview of the insurance and banking sectors respectively.
