Hirdaramani Group hosts delegation from 18th Asia Pacific Quality Conference

With Sri Lanka playing host to the 18th Asia Pacific Quality Conference this year, the Hirdaramani Group’s green factory, Mihila (part of the knit cluster), was one of just four facilities selected to host the industrial visits of the delegates. The factory was selected for its exceptional achievements in sustainable manufacturing to host the visit titled ‘Sustainability – Extended Beyond Compliance.’

Speaking at the event, Sandleen Khan from Pakistan said, “This factory is brilliant. It is the true picture of a sustainable factory having conservation of energy and water. The facility has adopted productivity concepts like ‘lean’ and ‘six sigma,’ which is really a great achievement. This is an example for others as well.”

During a walkthrough of the factory, Hasrina Bte Sharif from Singapore also commented, “Although the journey to your factory is far, the learning on environmental sustainability, your hospitality and the experience gained was well worth it. I thank you and wish you all the best and greater success in achieving your vision.” The first LEED certified custom built green factory in the world and the first carbon neutral certified apparel factory in Asia, the Mihila Factory is a National Quality Award winner as well, making it well worthy of the praise. The Hirdaramani Group is an Asia Pacific Quality Award winner, having received the distinction in 2003.
