Siam City, a leading cement producer in Thailand, has expressed its interest in making new investments in cement factories in Puttalam and Galle.
This was revealed when a group of leading representatives from the company, headed by its Chief Executive Siva Mahasandana, met President Maithripala Sirisena on Tuesday at the Presidential Secretariat.
In July Siam City bought Holcim (Lanka) Ltd. for $ 374 million.
The representatives commended the economic progress achieved by Sri Lanka. They also stated that Sri Lanka was now an ideal country for investment. “Our company is interested in making more investments in Sri Lanka in the future,” they said.
President Sirisena informed the company representatives about the new investment opportunities in Sri Lanka.
The Thai Ambassador in Sri Lanka also participated in the discussion.
