Hubergroup and the Liberty Group will launch the Gecko series of inks for flexible packaging printing, on 16 March at the Taj Samudra. The event is pitched to attract participation from all major flexible packaging printers and print buyers. Liberty Group will represent Hubergroup’s activities for all liquid inks sold in Sri Lanka.
The market is increasing in Sri Lanka, for good quality inks conforming to international safety standards as the demands set by food packers become more stringent. The need keeps increasing for better shelf-life of the packaged product, lower odour transfer, lower migration, and beautiful and captivating printed images. This is a very competitive market, and the Gecko series of Inks meets these demands and also the upcoming needs of the print buyers as the industry develops further.
Gecko branded ink has its presence in Europe since 2007. The major MNC companies include Amcor, Mondi, Wipak, Huhtamaki, RKW, DS Smith, British American Tobacco, JTI, P&G, Nestle, Haribo, Phillip Morris, Ferrero and Mondelez.
The inks are very safe for food packaging and Gecko is a well proven quality solvent based ink range of low migration for Flexo and gravure applications, backed by Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), careful raw material selection, and multiple quality checks.
There is nothing more important than the safety of package product. The Gecko range of inks are designed to completely fulfil compliance with legislation on food safety. Gecko inks are formulated for in-direct food contact hence under their normal format they do not transfer their constituents to package food to affect human health or deteriorate the organoleptic characteristic of the packed material and bring about unacceptable change in the composition of food.
The primary objective of regulatory compliance of food packaging is to protect the health of consumers. Gecko inks comply with regulatory EUPIA guidelines and Swiss ordinances. The raw materials selected and produced for formulating these inks are in compliance with required legislation for food safety.
The GMP is regulations laid down on the process with respect to the production of inks which demands that any migration, organoleptic changes and contamination shall be prevented. The Gecko product range qualifies for the GMP norms.
Gecko ink systems are formulated to meet environmental/health/safety norms, product safety and sustainability. This is only possible if there is a seamless chain of technical intelligence from the raw materials to the final use at the consumer.
