ICC World Chambers Federation Director visits Ceylon Chamber

The Director of the ICC World Chambers Federation Anthony Parkes, who is currently in the country, conducting two training programs on ‘Certificate of Origins’ and ‘ATA Carnets’, visited the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce on Monday evening.
Parkes held a brief meeting with the CEO/Secretary General of the Ceylon Chamber Mangala P.B. Yapa, while Senior Assistant Secretary General of the Ceylon Chamber Lilakshini De Mel and Assistant Secretary General Gayathiri Aravind also were present.
During the meeting, Yapa said that the Ceylon Chamber’s primary focus is to support regional growth by helping SMEs, facilitate trade and investment and also promote governance and policy advocacy.

He also said the Chamber is planning to further enhance its relationship with the regional Chambers by supporting them and bringing them to a strong network, which in turn can be utilised to reach the regional SME base.
Parkes, in response briefed the Chamber officials about the latest activities of the ICC World Chambers Federation. He also explained about the ICC ninth World Chambers Congress which is to take place during the year 2015 in Italy.
“For the first time in the history of the Congress, chamber leaders will endorse a declaration on their mission and role during the gathering, and sign a Declaration on Entrepreneur’s rights,” he said.
The four day training program on ‘Certificate of Origins’ and ‘ATA Carnets’, is currently underway and is conducted by Parkes.
