The ICT Agency of Sri Lanka (ICTA) requests State institutions that have not provided information about them to the Government Information Centre (GIC)  (1919) yet, to furnish  it immediately.

ICTA says that it made this request considering the inconvenience the public faced due to telephone numbers and other information not being available at the GIC.

ICTA says that according to the eGovernment policy also Government Institution heads are bound to provide this information.

The Agency says further that Presidential Secretary Lalith Weeratunga too called on   Government officials to provide to GIC information about public services provided by the Government institutions. Weeratunga also emphasised on the importance of constantly updating the information furnished to the GIC.

As a result of thus furnishing to the GIC the relevant telephone numbers and other information the Government institutions too immensely benefit, ICTA points out.

The GIC possesses information besides telephone numbers of about 290 institutions including Government Ministries, Departments and Authorities.   The GIC receives about 5500 calls daily, ICTA says.
