Former Indian Cabinet Minister of Environment and Forests, Industry, Energy, Chemicals and Fertilisers, Heavy Industry and Public Enterprise Suresh Prabu on Friday stated that India is prepping itself to host one of the largest solar related events next year.

The country will invite over 40 to 50 countries of which 20 to 30 would be countries that have sunshine for almost 300 days of the year. Sri Lanka is included in the list, he said. Also countries such as Germany, US, Spain, Japan and Korea that have advanced technology and has the power to invest in great solar power projects will also be invited, Prabu said: “It will be a great marriage between a son and daughter. Let’s take sun in the other term used ‘son’ and the daughter will be the technology the other countries can provide.”

He added that the event would host great opportunities for the corporate sector to take advantage of the new solar revolution that is taking place in the world.
