Indian delegation in town to boost trade and investment with Sri Lanka

An Indian delegation led by the Secretary of Commerce of the Government of India Shri S.R. Rao arrived in Sri Lanka to discuss trade and investment matters with a Sri Lankan delegation led by Dr. P.B. Jayasundera, Secretary to the Ministry of Finance and Planning and Secretary to the Ministry of Economic Development. Talks were held at the Academy of Financial Studies (Miloda) and the two delegations had very cordial discussions on attracting Indian investments to various segments including automobile parts, pharmaceuticals, sugar and tourism. The issue of obtaining substantial market access in India for Sri Lankan apparel, tea and rubber products was also discussed. Anura Siriwardena, Secretary to the Ministry of Industry and Commerce and Prasad Kariyawasam, High Commissioner of Sri Lanka in New Delhi, were also members of the delegation.
