Indonesia has agreed to give all possible assistance to strengthen the ties between Sri Lanka by providing greater opportunities for exports, investments and tourism promotion.
Indonesia’s new Ambassador in Sri Lanka Harimawan Suyitno assured the fact to Economic Development Minister Basil Rajapaksa, when they met at the Ministry Office on Thursday.
After assuming duties, the Ambassador met the Minister for the first time and discussed with him at length on plans for improving economic relations between the two countries. The Minister stressed Indonesia’s cooperation to develop Sri Lanka’s fisheries industry and requested assistance to train Sri Lankan fishermen for the purpose.
Minister Rajapaksa further said that the sea leeches industry in the Mannar area has been proved successful.
