Five trade unions of the Inland Revenue Department of Sri Lanka yesterday decided to report sick and strike work on five demands.

Inland Revenue Trade Union Co-secretary S.A.L. Udayasiri said that the demands of the Inland Revenue Department employees include the amendment of the service minutes to replace the 35-year old service minute of the Inland Revenue officials.

Inland Revenue Deputy Commissioners’ Association, Inland Revenue Staff Officers’ Association, Inland Revenue Executives Association, Inland Revenue Employees’ Union, and Inland Revenue General Employees’ Union support the strike action, said the trade union official.

He warned the government that further action would be initiated unless the government grants the demands of the Inland Revenue employees.
