International conference on bioscience and biotechnology on 12-13 January

The International Institute of Knowledge Management (TIIKM) has organised the 1st annual international conference on bioscience and biotechnology, BIOTECH 2016, which will be held on 12 and 13 January at the Galadari Hotel under the theme ‘Molecular Life Sciences for the Development in the 21st Century’.

Minister of Technology, Technical Education and Employment Susil Premajayantha will participate for the inauguration session of the conference as the chief guest. The conference will be chaired by Emeritus Prof. Eric H. Karunanayake, Emeritus Professor of Biochemistry, Institute of Biochemistry, Molecular Biology and Biotechnology, University of Colombo, and Prof. Atta-Ur-Rahman, UNESCO Science Laureate, President – Network of Academies of Science in Countries of the Organization of Islamic Conference (NASIC), Professor Emeritus, International Centre for Chemical & Biological Sciences, University of Karachi, Pakistan will participate as a special keynote speaker. 

Prof. Rahman has won the prestigious UNESCO Science Prize (1999) in the 35 year old history of the Prize. He was elected as a Fellow of Royal Society (London) in July 2006.Prof. K.M. Nalin de Silva, Prof. Wei Zhang and Prof. Nissanka‏ De Silva will also take part in this conference as keynote speakers. Approximately 75 participants including professors, professionals, university students, etc. from more than 10 countries will participate for this particular conference.

The conference is hosted by the Faculty of Applied Sciences of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura. The organisers (TIIKM) have arranged special sponsorship programs and discount schemes for Sri Lankan participants especially for local university participants. Organisers would like to invite local professors, doctors, professionals, university students and relevant community representatives of this subject scope (Bioscience and Biotechnology) to participate in the conference and to have a recognised international exposure in order to enhance the existing knowledge bases for a better future of the motherland as well as for the betterment of the world at large.
