International Star Award for Quality 2013

The International star Award for Quality presented by the Business Initiative Directives is one of the most sought after accolades in the realm of business and quality management worldwide. Business Initiatives Directives, or BID, is a prestigious private body dedicated to sharing quality culture in leading companies worldwide. Every year, BID presents 100 quality certificates to government agencies and other organisations throughout the world. The selections are made by a special panel appointed by BID, which has its headquarters in Spain. The International Star for Quality jury is made up of experienced professionals in the business world, specialised in TQM. It is presided over by International Star for Quality President and BID CEO Jose E. Preito. Alfonso Casal PhD in physics and mathematics and Professor of the University of Madrid is the Vice President of the International Star for Quality and Doctors Antonio Martinez and Enrique Llorente are co-authors of the QC100 model, a reliable quality model to cover expectations of their performance, products and services, to work better, improve capability and efficiency, to maximise results, make better decisions and reduce costs. The prestigious award has been bestowed to only four Sri Lankan companies in the past; namely the State Engineering Corporation, People’s Leasing PLC, Lumbini Tea Factory Pvt Ltd. and 99X Technology. The Business Initiatives Directives Convention 2013 is to be held in Geneva this year on 28 and 29 Sep and the international business community awaits the decision of the jury as to this year’s coveted winners and brands.
