The travel and tourism sector is one of the main industries in the world, which is being positively impacted by the internet usage of customers and online implementations by existing business firms at different stages of their value delivery chains.

However, the tourism industry in Sri Lanka is still not getting the maximum benefit of these trends due to many reasons and the knowledge gap in the industry on internet marketing concepts and techniques appears to be one of the top reasons, among many others.

With the objective of narrowing down this knowledge gap and enabling decision makers to confidently put their ideas, plans and strategies into action, a full day workshop on internet marketing has been organised by www.eBusiness-Academy.org, specifically for the travel trade.

The content of this workshop has been designed to suit the needs of business leaders and executives at all levels, from CEO/MD to marketing executives who are involved in the decision making of offline and online marketing. The workshop will be held on 12 February 2011 from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the OLAK Auditorium, T.B. Jayah Mawatha (Darley Road), Colombo 10.

eBusiness Academy (eBA) is one of the pioneers in internet marketing education in the South Asian region and all previous workshops have been successful as it has been able to deliver and exceed the expectations of both corporate entities and individuals who seek knowledge in the fields of e-marketing and e-commerce.

As an outcome of the above workshop, it is expected that the participants will be able to identify the online marketing opportunities as well as threats that are created by the changes in the business environment, different aspects of formulating internet marketing strategy for a travel business, ways and means of reaching the target audience via the internet, how to utilise the internal marketing staff to form an effective in-house web marketing team, different aspects of dealing with an e-marketing agency, online tools and measures available for marketers to evaluate the success of their online campaigns and many more detailed practical concepts related to internet marketing for the travel trade.
