Iran and Sri Lanka have signed two memoranda of understanding (MoU) on scientific and technological cooperation, the official news agency of Iran, IRNA reported.

During the signing ceremony late on Thursday, Iran’s Ambassador in Colombo has conveyed Iranian Vice President Sourena Sattari’s message to Sri Lanka’s Minister of Science, Technology and Research Susil Premajayantha.

The Sri Lankan Minister has referred to his recent trip to Iran and called for promoting collaboration between the two countries. During Minister Premajayantha’s visit in January, the two sides signed an MoU for cooperation on laboratory analysis for oil and gas.

Tehran and Colombo are in talks to build an oil and lubricant test laboratory in Sri Lanka using Iran’s technology.
