ISMM awarded ISO 9001:2008 quality certification by SLSI

The Institute of Supply and Materials Management was awarded the ISO 9001:2008 Quality Certification by the Sri Lanka Standards Institution recently at their 42nd anniversary banquet dinner held at the Pegasus Reef Hotel.
The certificate was officially handed over by Sri Lanka Standards Institution Director General Dr. L. N. Senaweera to ISMM President Anil Ponweera in the presence of the Council of Management and staff of ISMM.

ISMM was incorporated by Parliamentary Act No. 3 of 1981. In 1998 ISMM was affiliated to the International Federation of Purchasing and Supply Management in the UK. IFPSM is the world body encompassing 45 national supply management associations worldwide having around 200,000 supply chain management professionals engaged in different sectors and levels. In recognition of its expertise, ISMM was able to obtain membership in the Organisation of Professional Associations (the apex body of all professional associations in Sri Lanka) in September 1976.
Since then ISMM has played a vital role in OPA activities. Two Past Presidents of ISMM have served as Presidents of the OPA. ISMM is also registered under the Tertiary and Vocational Education Commission (TVEC) under P 01/0160. In 2001 ISMM joined with the World Trade Centre, Geneva to conduct an International Diploma in Supply Chain Management under the Modular Learning System in Sri Lanka.
ISMM has been admitted as a member of the Asia Pacific Logistic Forum based in China from 2014. ISMM entered into an MoU with SriLankan Airlines (International Aviation Academy) to conduct courses related to supply chain in the aviation industry and also entered into a further MoU with the New Zealand Career College to conduct CIPS (UK) courses for ISMM students in New Zealand.
In order to cater to outstation students who are unable to travel to Colombo, ISMM entered into a MoU with the Industrial Services Bureau of Kurunegala to conduct classes in Kurunegala for the benefit of students in the North Central Province.
