The Institute of Supply and Materials Management Sri Lanka (ISMM), as the national body incorporated by Act of Parliament No.3 of 1981addressing the discipline of all the links of the supply chain, considers it its responsibility to enhance knowledge and skills to address the different links of the supply chain that addresses the core subjects of purchasing, inventory control, and the logistics functions among the officers addressing these disciplines at their work places in different organisations.
Recently ISMM opened a Training Centre in Galle to facilitate supply chain students in the Southern Province.The objective of opening the Galle Branch is also to facilitate the southern entrepreneurs and industrialists to gain awareness and knowledge required to address their investments for profits.
The ISMM plans to commence with their courses in stores management and thereafter on purchasing management and extend to shipping, air cargo and containerisation, inventory management, international trade which includes imports and exports.
The Training Centre at Magalle was opened by ISMM President Noel Wickremasinghe at a simple ceremony after the chanting of ‘seth pirith’. The ceremony was attended by the ISMM President as the Chief Guest together with ISMM’s Galle Partner Anil Amarasuriya, Galle Project Manager Nimal Gonaduwa, General Secretary Sarath Gamageand several other ISMM officials.
