Independent Television Network Ltd.’s (ITN) premier FM radio channel Lakhanda ceremonially opened its fifth studio equipped with the latest technology at an auspicious time with a large gathering of its staff and well-wishers.
The ITN channel is the flagship television channel of Independent Television Network Ltd. and it also operates two FM radio stations – Lakhanda, the Sinhala language service and Vasantham FM, the Tamil language service. Vasantham TV, a second television channel operated by ITN Ltd., broadcasts content in the Tamil language.
ITN has been rated as No. 1 channel over the past few years continuously and is a State-governed television which broadcasts content to a wide demographic within Sri Lanka covering 99% of the island as well as the expatriate community. It commenced operations on 13 April 1979 with the introduction of the ITN television channel as the first television broadcasting service of Sri Lanka and South Asia.
