Following an island-wide sticker promotion, two three-wheel drivers received brand new three-wheelers courtesy of Janashakthi Insurance. Ajith Kumara Wandabona from Beliatte and A.G. Nadeeka Senevirathna from Mahiyangana were the lucky winners of a raffle draw held following the promotion. The two winners were selected from a pool of over 11000 people who sent in coupons to participate in the raffle. The first winner was personally selected by Director and Deputy Chief Executive Officer Jude Fernando while National Sales Manager – General Sales Suresh Basnayake chose the second winner, in a ceremony attended by a senior Tax Officer representing the Department of Revenue (Western province). Apart from empowering three wheel drivers, the promotion also aims to add value to Janashakthi’s ongoing personal accident cover scheme. In order to be covered by this scheme, drivers simply have to display the Janashakthi sticker on the back of their three-wheelers. In return, in the event of a death caused by accident, the driver who has a comprehensive Full Option policy (and his dependents) will receive Rs. 100,000. In addition, if a three-wheeler driver without a Full Option policy meets with an accident, his next of kin will receive Rs. 50,000. “There are over 500,000 three wheelers plying the roads today. Unfortunately, accidents involving these vehicles happen all the time. As such, the Janashakthi sticker is a symbol of security and reassurance in times of unforeseen trouble for three wheeler drivers and their families,” said Shehara de Silva, General Manager, Sales and Marketing at Janashakthi Insurance.
