JICA’s new Chief Representative Kiyoshi Amada met the Minister of Water Supply and Drainage Dinesh Gunarwarda on 9 June 2014 at the Ministry of Water Supply and Drainage. They discussed how best to expedite the implementation of ongoing projects and prospects for future cooperation in the water sector.
JICA’s footprint in the water sector in Sri Lanka now, is wide and significant with eight projects that will make key impacts to the supply of water for several communities. Currently under implementation are the Greater Kandy Water Supply Project, the Kalu Ganga Water Supply project, the Greater Colombo Water Supply Project, the Towns North Water Supply Project, the Eastern Province Water Supply Development Project, the Kilinochchi Water Supply Project, the Anuradhapura North Water Supply Project and the Kandy City Waste Water Management Project.
In the past too, JICA has supported many water sector projects in Sri Lanka.
JICA Senior Representative Abe Hiroyuki, JICA Representative Shinozaki Yuzuke and Project Specialist M.G. Hemachandra were also present.
