Journey to the Cloud: Saberion partners up with Amazon web and cloud services

By Sarah Hannan While introducing the concept of the Cloud to key decision makers across the corporate sphere and discussing the need for cloud, business benefits of cloud and cloud adoption best practices; Saberion announced their ‘Journey to the cloud’ by officially launching and introducing their partnership with Amazon Web Services (AWS) and cloud services on Wednesday 30 October at Cinnamon Lakeside, Colombo. The event was attended by the Amazon Seller Services Ltd. Channels, ISV & Alliances India & SAARC Head Vivek Gupta, Amazon Seller Services Ltd. South Region Head Vinodh Krishnan, Saberion Ltd. co-Founder/Director Mufaddal Lukmanjee, Saberion Ltd. Business Development Consultant Manoj Mohinani, Sri Lanka Association of Software and Services Companies (SLASSCOM) Chairman Madhu Rathnayake and representatives from Amazon and Saberion. Partnership with Amazon In his welcome address Lukmanjee stated that Saberion has been working with Amazon for the past six months as a consulting partner. “It is a pleasure to be partnering with Amazon and in launching their web and cloud services in Sri Lanka. Amazon Web Services (AWS) has been a pioneer in cloud computing services and we are glad to note that this product is being launched at a time where the consumer is seeking for scalable and cost effective methods to switch to the cloud environment,” Lukmanjee added. Sharing his thoughts on the launch of AWS cloud services Rathnayake congratulated the companies for the timely launch of their services and drew the attention of the audience to the award Sri Lanka had won for ‘Best Outsourcing Destination of The Year’ awarded by the National Outsourcing Association (NOA) in United Kingdom last week. According to Rathnayake, Sri Lanka adapts to IT technologies in two ways; Social media, Mobile Application usage, Cloud Services and the increase in digital savvy consumers who have a high demand for innovative technologies. “As companies we need to look at methods to enable a tech friendly environment to our consumers and change and transform our businesses with cloud services. This is a tremendous opportunity for Sri Lanka to be the innovator for the South Asian region considering these aspects. AWS cloud services launches at a perfect time as start-up economies like ours can grow with cloud services.” Wrapping up the event Lukmanjee invited Amazon Seller Services Ltd. South Region Head Vinodh Krishnan to officially launch Saberion’s cloud services website www.cloudservices.lk which portrays three of their cloud services; Sabre - Cloud Hosting, Alpine - Manages Cloud and Tundra - Disaster Recovery and also mentioned that Saberion’s Simple Email Services (SES) built on the AWS platform to will be launched in January 2014.
