Kahawatte factories dominate western medium all time records

At this week’s Tea auction Craighead and Rilagala marks which are owned and managed by Kahawatte Plantations PLC established new all time record prices, surpassing the previous records held by them. Incidentally Craighead mark has three all time record prices to its credit, and continues to improve on the records established by them. The all time record price established by Craighead mark at this week’s auctions is for a line of BOP1 grade with a price of Rs. 1250 which surpassed previous all time record price of Rs. 1000 per kilogram established jointly by Craighead and Cooroondoowatte. This line of tea was purchased by Sunshine Tea Ltd. Rilagala Mark established an all time record price of Rs. 1050 per kilogram for a line of FBOP grade surpassing previous all time record price of Rs. 990 per kilogram established by Craighead and Imboolpitiya marks of the same company. This line of tea was purchased by Sunshine Tea Ltd. Forbes & Walker Tea Brokers Ltd., is associated with marketing of the above marks of Kahawatte Plantations PLC as their sole broker and conducting these record breaking sales Sarnia Plaiderie breaks own record Sarnia Plaiderie mark which established an all time record price for a BOP 1 grade last week established an all time record price of Rs. 1000 per kilogram for a line of FBOP1 grade at this week’s auction in the Uva Medium Elevation Category. This surpassed the previous all time record price of Rs. 960 per kilogram established by them previously. The buyer of this line of tea was Sunshine Tea Ltd. Sarnia estate situated in the Badulla/Hali Ela sub district of the Uva planting district and falls within the Uva Medium Elevation category. Sarnia Estate is owned and managed by Malwatte Valley Plantations PLC who also own and manage the best reputed marks which produce Uva Flavoury teas sought after by connoisseurs of tea the world over. Forbes & Walker Tea Brokers Ltd., conducted the sale of this line of tea. Mooloya sets an all time record for FBOP grade Mooloya estate which is one of first estates to be planted in tea way back in 1885 is currently owned and managed by Pussellawa Plantations PLC. At this week’s tea auction a line of FBOP grade from Mooloya recorded an all time record price of Rs. 690 per kilogram in the Uda Pussellawa agro climatic region. This surpassed the previous all time record price of Rs. 610 per kilogram . The buyer of this line of tea was George Steuart Teas Ltd. Forbes & Walker Tea Brokers Ltd., conducted the sale of this line of tea.
