Kapruka.com founder to speak at CIMA Management Accounting Conference 2014

The CIMA Management Accounting Conference, an annual flagship event of CIMA Sri Lanka led by business leaders and global thought leaders is to be held on 15 August 2014, at the Oak Room, Cinnamon Grand Colombo from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. The conference will recognise and review cutting edge Management Accountancy related topics of utmost relevance to today’s businesses. This year’s conference is expected to be a rewarding experience, with sessions that are informative and beneficial to the audience. The forum will be addressing a current theme; ‘Intelligence through insights: From performance to dominance’ predominantly focused on effectively using information, operational and strategic insights for optimal business benefits.

Sri Lanka’s renowned visionary entrepreneur Dulith Herath, CEO and founder of the much celebrated Kapruka.com, will be speaking at the Management Accounting Conference, on the case study of ‘Kapruka.com’ which became an award winning e-commerce platform in just over 11 years of operation. He will be enlightening the audience on how Kapruka uses ‘Data That Matters!’ to run a company requiring 600 people with just 200 people, and on the challenges that mainly consists of collecting, storing and organising data from multiple data sources. Dulith will also be using real life recent examples from Kapruka on how they use data to make a ‘connection’ with the customer than simply promoting things to customers. As there is a big lapse in online marketing strategies where we miss to make a connection using the data we have in comparison to pushing products to customers using traditional data analysis. Big data is a crucial element of e-commerce, more than any other industry, where personalised offers and data driven decision making has become a norm at Kapruka today. Dulith Herath is an entrepreneur and web technologies specialist, who is also the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Sri Lanka’s largest e-commerce organisation ‘Kapruka.com’, which set the bar for Sri Lanka’s online business strategies and web based benchmarks. Dulith possesses strong technical skills that fuse innovation and new technology based business models in Sri Lanka. He is also an advocate of improving government policies on tech startups and intellectual properties. Dulith has won many awards including the Gold Award for Entrepreneur of 2010 by Chamber of Commerce for Sri Lanka, Most innovative Exporter Gold Award 2011 recognised by National Chamber of Exporters, ICTA Gold Award – 2011, National Business Excellence Gold Award – 2011 and the Asia Young Entrepreneur Award for 2013 – winner for the best e-commerce application of Sri Lanka recognised by Information and Communication Technology Agency of Sri Lanka. Prior to Kapruka, Dulith served as a Development Specialist at Dell Perot Systems where he designed robust software/web applications for DELL client use with the aim of optimising operational efficiency. Additionally, he also worked as an Application Architect at Microsoft where he directed the designed new applications from conception to completion while overseeing the technical staff involved with development projects. Dulith is a graduate of University of Kentucky, USA with a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science.
