Kelani Cables PLC, Sri Lanka’s number one brand in secure electrical and communication cables, held its annual scholarly converse forum ‘Kelani Knowledge Forum – 2014’ recently at Waters Edge. The theme of this year’s program was ‘The Unseen Side of the Quality’.
The keynote address was made by Sri Lanka Standard Institute’s (SLSI) former Deputy Director General Wasantha Meewaddana. The forum held for the third consecutive year brings together veterans and company owners in the local engineering and construction fields.
The world’s latest trends and developments are shared with them at the forum. Kelani Cables is the only electrical cables and accessories manufacturer which organises a forum of this nature to bring knowhow of latest trends to the respective fields.
This time’s forum had a participation of over 250 personnel comprising leading local engineers, project managers, CEOs, managing directors and general managers of companies in the respective sectors. The topic taken for discussion with examples at the ‘Kelani Knowledge Forum – 2014’ was ‘qualitative activities and the quality levels expected by present customer’.
Kelani Cables PLC CEO Mahinda Saranapala expressing his views said the Kelani Knowledge Forum is treated as a CSR program by the company as it shares latest knowhow in the trade with local professionals and facilitates them to benchmark with those latest trends in the construction sector.
“Kelani Cables has become the top-of-the-mind brand name in the local engineering and construction arena over the years. Thus it is our responsibility to share the latest global knowledge pertaining to engineering and construction with professionals of the local sphere. This forum thus has groomed to be an annual event,” said the CEO.
He added: “On earlier occasions we have invited a veteran in the electrical engineering field to address the forum. This time around we have deviated from that to invite a veteran in the ‘standards field,’ the reason being today’s society expects standards in products and services they consume irrespective of the category. Thus it is of utmost importance to enhance the knowledge among producers the standards they have to maintain in the respective products and services they offer.”
Sri Lankans can ensure a secure standard in life due to the consumption of standardised products and services. Kelani Cables PLC is dedicated to create an environment which is secure for the society. The ‘Kelani Knowledge Forum – 2014’ facilitated inducing that knowledge to the local engineering sectors, the CEO further observed.
Kelani Cables PLC is a 100% Sri Lankan-owned company serving the nation for over four decades manufacturing electrical and communication cables.
