Korean Air’s direct flights to boost export volumes from Sri Lanka

“Sri Lanka – Korea Business linkages will be further strengthened in the years to come,” stated Jong Moon Choi, Ambassador in Sri Lanka for Korea at the recently held interactive evening on 05 April 2013 at the Taj Samudra Hotel.



The interactive session focused on export opportunities and challenges in the Korean Market for Sri Lankan exporters. It was mentioned that Sri Lanka will achieve a higher growth in the next few years after Korean Air commencing direct flights will show positive results of increased export volumes to Korea. Sri Lanka’s tourism sector has also shown a positive growth of tourists visiting Sri Lanka from Korea in the year 2012/2013. The total number of Korean tourists arrived in Sri Lanka in the period was over 16% compared to the year 2012.

“This is a positive sign that Korean travellers have now included Sri Lanka in their travel itineraries and we anticipate further increase of tourist arrivals from Korea during the year 2013 due to the new flights by Korean Air,” said the Ambassador addressing the well attended gathering at the interactive session.

The Sri Lanka Korea Economic Cooperation Committee also launched their new website of the council - www.srilankakoreabiz.com - and the site was officially launched by the Korean Ambassador at the event.
