Lafarge Mahaweli Cement celebrates 4 years of zero LTI

Lafarge Mahaweli Cement hosted their employees to a grand event held at the Pegasus Hotel, Uswetakeiyawa, where they celebrated zero lost time injuries (LTI) for four consecutive years. 

The company attributed this victory to the global best practices in health and safety, set in place from the inception of their operations in Sri Lanka, which has been made a core practice for all their employees and contractors. Lafarge Mahaweli, which is a member of the world leader in building better cities, says that its health and safety practices have improved vastly over time.

Congratulating its employees and contractors who helped Lafarge in its health and safety journey, Anurag Kak, Managing Director of Lafarge Mahaweli Cement, said: “This victory comes with active engagement from both our employees as well as our contractors who put in some hard and committed work towards achieving our goal. The fact that we are celebrating zero LTI for four recurring years today is clear proof of how well health and safety is being practiced, and how seriously it is viewed by our employees as well as our contractors.”

Commenting further, the Managing Director also said that achieving this milestone was crucial and the day’s celebrations was also a pledge to extend such victories in the coming ten years. He added that it is his hope to dedicate the second quarter of 2015 entirely to health and safety.
