Shoppers at Lanka Sathosa outlets islandwide will soon be able to pay for goods and services with eZ Cash, as the State-owned supermarket chain entered into a Memorandum of Understanding with the pioneering mobile money service.
Upon implementation, customers with eZ Cash mobile wallets with Dialog, Etisalat and Hutch mobile phones can pay for goods and services, do withdrawals and top-ups, pay utility bills and conduct institutional payments at the 300-plus Sathosa outlets island wide.
Speaking on the planned rollout, Dialog Axiata Senior General Manager – Mobile Money and Digital Services Janaka Jayalath said: “We are privileged to partner with Lanka Sathosa to extend the benefits of mobile money to customers of this popular line of supermarkets islandwide. eZ Cash will open up a new vista in transactions and opportunity for the Sathosa network, and we look forward to a fruitful partnership.”
Lanka Sathosa Chairman Dr. Rohantha Athukorala said: “The Sathosa supermarket network is growing and expanding its operations to meet modern day requirements and expectations, and this partnership to infuse mobile payments is one such step to present greater convenience to our diverse customers. We look forward to adding greater value to customers through this partnership with eZ Cash upon implementation.”
eZ Cash also offers customers the benefit of paying utility bills and for goods and services directly from the mobile phone. Users can also send and receive money and conduct institutional payments via eZ Cash merchants islandwide.
