The nation’s pioneer of textured soy products, Lanakasoy, sponsors of the ‘Lankasoy Game Show’ program, recently offered the largest prize money in the competition to date. Lekani Renuka, a resident in Udabedde in the Badulla District, was the lucky winner of this windfall.
The Lankasoy Game Show is an extremely popular TV Program which has been conducted consecutively for eleven years and has telecasted more than 530 episodes to-date. The program is presented by popular and well-known artiste Nalin Perera of the Marians Musical Band together with Chef Aruna Fernando.
Consumers are invited to send in three Lankasoy empty packs together with an artistic creation and are then given the opportunity of participating in the program. The most creative entries are chosen to take part in the ‘Lankasoy Game Show’.
Consumers who participate in the program have the opportunity of winning cash. Among the telecasted programs, Lekani Renuka, a contestant in episode no: 528 emerged the triumphant winner. Through the Lankasoy Game Show she received a cash prize of Rs. 146,500.
Commenting on her recent bonanza, Lekani Renuka said, “The Lankasoy Game Show is one of my favourite TV programs. Being able to participate in an episode was exciting and memorable. Winning the grand prize was an extra ordinary experience. My dream of launching an apparel business can now be made a reality.”
Theja Iddamalgoda, the creative producer of the Game Show since its inception said, “The Lankasoy Game show is not only presented as a recreational television program. Its objective is also to educate participants and viewers, helping them enhance their culinary knowledge. The artistic creations, namely handicrafts and the numerous queries regarding the recipes we receive from our loyal viewers are testament of their enthusiasm and eagerness in the program.”
Lankasoy is manufactured and marketed by Convenience Foods (Lanka) PLC, a subsidiary of Ceylon Biscuits Ltd. (CBL). The company pioneered the manufacture of soy food products and through innovation has developed a wide range of soy based products.
“At CBL, whilst offering quality products we aim in presenting entertainment and educational programs for our consumers through the media. We also aim in making our customers happy and do so by providing high quality products, organising educational and recreational programs,” said Group Director and Head of Marketing and Sales Nandana Wickramage.
“While the Lankasoy Game Show is one such initiative, we are hopeful of organising more meaningful and informative programs for our consumers in the future,” he added.
Cementing its uniqueness and innovation as a market leader, Lankasoy was awarded the SLIM Brand of the Year award and also recipient of several Gold Awards. Moreover, Lankasoy was the first soya product in the local market to receive the Sri Lanka Standard (SLS) certification.
The coveted brand of the year award was presented to CBL’s Lankasoy Brand. The brand altogether bagged four Golds at the SLIM Brand Excellence 2013.
