Lankan delegation in Karachi at 7th Expo Pakistan Exhibition

Karachi: An 18-member Sri Lankan delegation is in Karachi to participate in the 7th Edition of Expo Pakistan, being held from 4 to 7 October 2012 at the Karachi Expo Centre.

President of Pakistan-Sri Lanka Business Forum Tarek Moinuddin Khan hosted a reception to welcome the Sri Lankan delegation.

Speaking at the reception, the Sri Lankan Consul General in Karachi D.W. Jinadasa has said that Pakistan-Sri Lanka trade has more than doubled in the last few years to US$ 400 million but potential exists to take it much higher. The Consul General pointing out that Sri Lanka was a growing market with great potential has invited Pakistani businessmen to explore the opportunities presented by Sri Lanka.

Welcoming the Sri Lankan delegation, Khan, has said that much more can be done to reflect the close relations between the two countries and trade relations between the two countries would continue to improve in future.

Rohitha Thilakaratne, the leader of the Sri Lankan delegation has said that his delegation was participating to promote bilateral trade besides developing loyal economic and social links.

The Sri Lankan delegation will showcase food, spices, coconut products besides industrial material and rubber tires.

Expo Pakistan is the biggest trade fair in Pakistan, showcasing the largest collection of Pakistan’s export merchandise and services.
