The Embassy of Sri Lanka, in Washington DC on Friday launched Focus Sri Lanka, a quarterly publication of the Embassy of Sri Lanka devoted to trade, investment and economic relationships between Sri Lanka and the US.
The first copy was presented to Senior Minister of International Monetary Cooperation Dr. Sarath Amunugama, Minister of Petroleum Industries Susil Premajayanth, Central Bank Governor Ajith Nivard Cabraal and Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs Dr. Alysa Ayres, IFC Regional Director Thomas Devenport, and World Bank Country Director for Sri Lanka and Maldives Diarietou Gaye by Sri Lankan Ambassador to USA in Washington DC Jaliya Wickramasuriya.
The launch was held at the Sri Lanka Residence during a dinner reception hosted by the Sri Lankan Ambassador in honour of the visiting Sri Lanka delegation to the IMF/World bank Spring Meetings amidst a distinguished gathering of senior US and Sri Lankan officials. The ‘Focus Sri Lanka’ magazine, a brainchild of Ambassador Wickramasuriya, fills a long felt need for such an economic publication to highlight Sri Lanka’s current economic and political developments and growing trade and economic partnership between Sri Lanka and the US.
The comprehensive contents include messages from President Mahinda Rajapaksa, Foreign Minister Prof. G.L. Peiris , interviews with Cabraal, Heads of Government Promotional Agencies and Sri Lankan corporate leaders.
Minister Amunugama , Chief Guest at this Launching Ceremony thanked Ambassador Wickramasuriya for this timely initiative and expressed his best wishes to ‘Focus Sri Lanka’ that will continue to focus on emerging trade and investment opportunities between Sri Lanka and the US.
