Lankan robbing Korean via credit card further remanded

A Sri Lankan who allegedly withdrew money from a visa card belonging to a Korean civil engineer after getting him drunk was further remanded till 24 April by a Colombo Court yesterday.

The Korean civil engineer, attached to the Colombo Port, had made a complaint with the Colombo Fraud Investigations Bureau (CFIB) alleging that a Sri Lankan had fraudulently withdrawn Rs. 550,000 from his visa card which was issued by a Korean bank. The suspect had allegedly withdrawn the concerned amount money in one day when the complainant was intoxicated by alcohol.

When the suspect was produced before Colombo Fort Magistrate Kanishka Wijeratne, the CFIB informed Court that investigations into the matter had not yet been concluded and moved Court that the suspect be further remanded till 24 April.  

The suspect was taken into custody after examining the video footage recorded in the bank ATM machine room.

Presenting the photographs relating to the incident before Court, the CFIB informed Court that there was clear evidence to prove that the suspect was directly involved in the incident.
