The Sri Lanka Institute of Packaging (SLIP) together with MP Events Lanka announced the forthcoming ‘Lankapak 2014’ exhibition scheduled to be held from 18-20 July at the Sirimavo Bandaranaike Exhibition Centre.
Lankapak 2014 will uncover the vast potential of Sri Lanka’s packaging industry and parallely unveil the latest international products to a growing international clientele. It is organised by SLIP, the key organisation representing the Sri Lankan packaging industry, and its ‘technical arm,’ the Packaging Development Centre.
This exhibition is supported by the Ministry of Industry and Commerce and two global and regional packaging organisations – The World Packaging Organisation and The Asian Packaging Federation respectively.
Lankapak 2014 is sponsored by CMC Engineering (Platinum Sponsor), Euroasia Packaging (Gold Sponsor) Premium Packaging Solutions (Silver Sponsor), JDC Graphics Systems (Silver Sponsor), Durapack (Bronze Sponsor), AG International (Bronze Sponsor) and FlyinStyle (Travel Partner).
“Colombo has always been the main centre where suppliers of state-of-the-art packaging equipment and new products exhibit to a receptive target market at international packaging exhibitions of this nature. Sri Lanka is a country which is totally dependent on imported raw materials and equipment for packaging, and has, over the past three decades, mastered the art of adding value to the converted products. Our locally produced export products in high quality package designs are seen all over the world,” said Dharmatilake Ratnayake, Chairman of LANKAPAK’14 Organising Committee and Past President of Sri Lanka Institute of Packaging.
He is also the current Chairman of the Packaging Development Centre.
Sri Lanka Institute of Packaging President Dudley Thambinayagam said: “Being perhaps the oldest such packaging industry association in South East Asia, the SLIP has a proud history dating back to more than three decades of uplifting the standards of Sri Lankan packaging to the highly competitive position it enjoys today. Promotional exhibitions portraying both local packaging developments and the technical advances in the developed world have been held with the participation of regional and global giants in the field of packaging. We look forward to the active participation of packaging material and machinery suppliers from the member countries of the Asian Packaging Federation, especially India and China, being the biggest suppliers of these items to the Sri Lankan packaging industry. We are positive of the success of this year’s Lankapak 2014 exhibition.”
The Sri Lanka Institute of Packaging was established in 1975 and virtually enjoys the exclusive rights of showcasing the packaging developments in the country through its packaging exhibitions held in Colombo from the early 1980s. Being an active member of the Asian Packaging Federation, SLIP has requested its member countries such as China, India, Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand to promote manufacturers of raw materials and machinery from their countries to exhibit at Lankapak 2014.
