LAUGFS Gas marks 12 years of business excellence

LAUGFS Gas PLC, the Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) industry giant, marked 12 years of business excellence recently with religious observances and celebrations of the contribution of its employees at its head office in Mabima.

The success of the company’s 12 year journey is a testament to the entrepreneurial courage and long term vision of the founders of LAUGFS Gas W.K.H. Wegapitiya and Thilak De Silva. LAUGFS Gas commenced operations in 2001 as the country’s second fully-fledged LPG downstream player following the liberalisation of the Sri Lankan LPG industry. Having entered a field dominated by a monopoly, the company achieved remarkable growth and gained impressive market share in a short span of time with affordability, convenience and safety standards. “The past 12 years have been full of challenges which have been overcome through courage and innovation. In 2011, LAUGFS Gas pioneered the 5 kg gas cylinder in Sri Lanka aimed at serving the needs of small families. The National Quality Award received by LAUGFS Gas at the National Quality Awards Ceremony in 2012 stands out among the many awards and accolades it has received over the years.
