One of the world’s most highly respected leadership experts and the critically acclaimed author of 11 best-selling books on leadership Robin Sharma will be in Colombo next week to conduct a Talent Development Drive workshop which will be held on 19 July at the Cinnamon Grand.

Brought down by the combined efforts of CIMA Sri Lanka and MAS Holdings, Sharma is devoted to his mission to help organisations develop people to adapt and grow in periods of intense corporate-culture change. Famed for his best known books ‘The Monk Who Sold His Ferrari’ and ‘The Greatness Guide’, his clients include Fortune 500 companies such as Microsoft, GE, FedEx, IBM, Nike, NASA and Yale University.

“Given where Sri Lanka is today, we will have to develop the skills of leaders on a fast forwarded basis so that they in turn will learn how to manage people and unleash their potential to the maximum and bringing down a thought leader like Robin Sharma will assist greatly in this endeavour,” said the CIMA Regional Director Middle East, South Asia and North Africa Bradley Emerson. “Leadership can exist only with followership. The measurement of good leadership is based on how well the potential of the followership is unleashed,” he added.

He went on to say the CIMA is about business leadership and that the organisation makes every endeavour to add value to the businesses and to its people and MAS Holdings in turn is one of CIMA’s largest employers who share the same value of developing talent, making it all the more fitting that these two organisations teamed up to bring down the leadership expert.

MAS Holdings, famed for their pioneering apparel manufacturing capabilities is also a firm advocate of leadership development and has fully endorsed this workshop with the belief that Sharma’s powerful technique will connect with local audiences and drive them forward to action.

“Unleashing the latest leadership potential within all of us is Robin Sharma’s forte; talent development and personal success has been part of MAS’s DNA since its inception and our 45,000 strong international team stands as proof of this philosophy. We feel connected with Robin Sharma’s strong leadership teachings and are delighted to be a part of his programme,” stated the MAS Holdings Deputy Chairman and CEO Sharad Amalean, himself a great follower of Sharma since reading his first book. The Deputy Chairman also felt that the timing of this workshop could not be better with the great plans of development in Sri Lanka.

“Good talent boils down to good leadership and the country has suffered greatly from talent going away and all industries has had the common problem of having either no talent or having talent but lacking leadership development,” Amalean commented.

The workshop which will be based on Sharma’s international bestseller ‘The Leader Who Has No Title’ will include highly inspirational yet immensely practical sessions that will teach business leaders the seven best practices of Leaders Without Titles and eight peak performance tactics to do world-class work in busy times. He will also direct several other sessions such as strategies the best companies use to become even better, four keys to a high performance team and winning culture and also personal leadership sessions to stay strong and focused amidst turbulence and uncertainty.
