Liberty Plaza goes for Rs. 100 m mega food court

Liberty Plaza, the country’s first ever shopping mall, will have a modern food court and fine dining restaurant with an investment of Rs. 100 million.

The food court would be constructed on par with international standards in an extent of 20,000 square feet and will accommodate over 500 guests at a given time.

“This would be the largest amongst shopping malls in Colombo,” a spokesman said adding that the cost of the project would be in the region of Rs. 100 million.

“We have already begun construction and the food court will commence operation by April 2012 for the Sinhala and Tamil New Year,” the spokesman added.

Liberty Holdings Ltd., a wholly owned subsidiary of Colombo Land and Development Plc., has signed up with a foreign investor to develop a food court and fine dining restaurants.“This would be the first initiative of Colombo Land Group for implementation of their blue print for re-vamping Liberty Plaza,” the spokesman said adding, “The Food court project will no doubt add value to Liberty Plaza and CLDC Group.”
