Lakdhanavi Ltd., which is the power generation arm of LTL Holdings Group, has won the award for Power Utility of the Year – Sri Lanka, at the Asian Power Awards 2016, for the operations of its Yugadanavi 300 MW Combined Cycle Power Plant (known as the Kerawalapitiya Power Plant).
This award has been made in recognition of the company’s capability for operating a large-scale power plant in an efficient and prudent manner.
The Asian Power Awards is considered the Oscars of the power industry in Asia, and recognises unique projects and trailblazing initiatives in the power sector in Asia.
Lakdhanavi Ltd. is the Operation and Maintenance contractor of the Yugadanavi plant, who has made history, by running this plant for last six years with Heavy Fuel Oil (HFO), with minimal downtime and outage.
It is a landmark project in Asia, a showcase example for large scale innovative electrical engineering power projects. Yugadanavi operation has also obtained ISO 9001 (Quality Systems) and ISO 14000 (Environmental Management) certification from Det Norsek Veritas of Norway.
With this international award, LTL Holdings once again has proved to the world that Sri Lankan knowledge, ingenuity, hard work and application is second to none internationally.
The journey of more than 30 years of LTL has been one of hard work, ingenuity and confidence. Today, this Sri Lankan company is proud to look back at its humble beginnings, and proud to be now considered as Sri Lanka’s foremost engineering company, operating in the international arena and earning valuable foreign exchange to the country.
In addition LTL also operates two other power plants in Bangladesh. The operation style of LTL of these two power plants have also brought a paradigm shift in the power plant maintenance style in other IPPs in Bangladesh which have embraced the international best practices adopted by LTL.
LTL is expected to be awarded another 100MW capacity power plant IPP contract by Government of Bangladesh. By its pioneering efforts to move off shore the power plant management expertise of Sri Lankans LTL has firmly put Sri Lanka on the international power map.
