Mackwoods Energy powers Salamulla housing complex

Mackwoods Energy PLC recently installed and commissioned a 650kVA Mackpower Perkins Power Plant with an Automatic Power Transfer Panel at UDA Salamulla housing complex. This housing project was implemented by the Sri Lanka Land Reclamation and Development Corporation, at Vijaya Road, Salamulla, Kolonnawa, for the unprivileged people in the area. The housing complex consists of 3 blocks with 1008 Housing units. Block ‘A’ has already completed with 216 Housing units.                   Automatic Power Transfer Panel (APTP) installed was completed as per regulation under the Institute of Electrical Engineers (IEE), and will efficiently distribute power to the housing complex with no interruptions, whilst the standby power fed will be from the generator itself. With the installation of an APTP, housing complex residents will experience an uninterrupted service of electricity and lifts to the upper floors. Perkins Engines UK, a subsidiary of caterpillar Inc., is primarily a diesel engine manufacturer for several markets including Agricultural, Construction, Material Handling, Power Generation and Industrial. It was established in Peterborough in 1932. Over the years Perkins has expanded its engine specifications including diesel and gas engines.   Perkins Engines concept was the high – speed diesel engine which was a four-cylinder Vixen, and made its debut in 1932, and in October 1935 Perkins became the first company to hold six world diesel speed records for a variety of distances set at the Brooklands race track in Surrey. Perkins Engines was purchased by its largest customer, Massey Ferguson, in 1959. A supplier to Caterpillar Inc. since the 1970s, Perkins was bought by Caterpillar in 1998 for, creating what they claimed was the world’s largest diesel engine manufacturer. With an ever-expanding global footprint Perkins Engines now has manufacturing facilities in the United Kingdom, United States, Brazil, China, India and a joint venture with Ishikawajima-Shibaura-Machinery Company in Japan.                               Mackwoods Energy has launched Perkins Engine power generators co-brand as Mackpower-Perkins and market power generators and power plants for 650kVA up to 2250kVA made in United Kingdom with the option of offering customers a choice of units assembled in the countries mentioned above in order to be more competitively priced. Mackwoods Energy also provides power solutions and systems to Airtel, Dialog, Hutch, Sri Lanka Telecom, Sri Lanka Army, Sri Lanka Navy, UNICEF, GTZ, CECB, General and Teaching Hospitals Island wide to name a few.
