Maga, Access, Sanken recognised at Engineering Excellence Awards 2015

Maga, Access Engineering PLC and Sanken Lanka, which are among the foremost engineering companies in Sri Lanka, were recognised for their engineering excellence at the coveted Engineering Excellence Awards 2015 ceremony, held at Waters Edge on 26 January.

Since 2006, the Engineering Excellence Awards organised by The Institute of Engineers Sri Lanka (IESL) encourage and celebrate the excellence in science and engineering practices by rewarding the finest of its members, individuals and organisations in Sri Lanka for their outstanding accomplishments and achievements related to engineering. 

‘The Awards for Excellence in Engineering for Organizations’ were presented to 10 engineering organisations that engage in manufacturing, construction, engineering services and engineering consultancy services. 

While Maga Engineering Ltd. bagged the sector winner award for Excellence in Engineering for Construction Organizations under the Large Category, Access Engineering PLC and Sanken Construction Ltd. were bestowed with the Merit Awards for its overall demonstration of professionalism and pursuit of excellence in science and practice of engineering. 

All the applicants  were classified as ‘Large’, ‘Medium’ and ‘Small’ based on their total turnover as at the date of the Financial Statement of the financial year ending in 2013/14. And the construction organisations whose total turnover has exceeded Rs. 1 billion were considered eligible to the category of ‘Large’.

Further to the financial capability, the standing of the organisations based on the volume of work handled, major projects undertaken, savings on cost or energy, waste management, use of indigenous materials, national awards, recognitions , attainments achieved so far and the impact of their work on the society at large were also considered during the selection process for the awards.
