At the tea auctions concluded last week, an invoice of Magedara OP1 achieved an all-time Colombo Tea Auction record price of Rs. 940 per kg.
This tea was purchased by Classic Teas Ltd., a buyer of top quality low grown teas and was sold through the catalogue of Lanka Commodity Brokers Ltd.
Magedara factory is renowned for the manufacture of stylish, well-made teas that are supported by high-end buyers at the weekly auctions.
This factory is owned by Wakeel Hadjiyar, who is a prominent businessman from the Southern Province, with four other well-established factories also coming under his management.
