Small and Medium Enterprise Developers (SMED), the technical arm of the Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Sri Lanka (FCCISL), will present its high-level policy forum ‘The Key Persons Forum’ at Hotel Lion Inn, Bandarawela on Saturday, 27 October from 10.30 a.m. to 1.00 p.m.

The forum will be addressed by Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena, Minister of Agriculture and Agrarian Services on the topic ‘Agro ways of Industrial Development through Agriculture.’

This forum is organised by the SMED of FCCISL in collaboration with the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uva Province. The Asia Foundation, under its Local Economic Governance Program which is funded by the Australian International Agency for Development (AusAID), supports the FCCISL to conduct KPFs in regions.

With objective of bridging the gap between informed entrepreneurship and the policy practitioners, the FCCISL is expanding its horizons into the underprivileged areas on a regional level. In this context, the forum is to be conducted on the agriculture sector policy platform in the Badulla district considering the priorities of agriculture sector development in the region.

The forum to be held in Bandarawela will be led by the minister, high officials from FCCISL, FCCISL president, senior vice president, CEO and president of Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uva Province and a senior technical adviser and program officer from the Asia Foundation.

The Key Persons Forum commenced in 2006 as a part of the business and public awareness effort on issues pertaining to business, economy and the society. The forum provides a platform for eminent persons with expertise, knowledge and decision making powers to discuss and share experiences on policy perspectives on a face-to-face basis on a wide range of topics.
