Malaysian businessmen meet with Sri Lankan counterparts at Ceylon Chamber

A 20 member Malaysian business group recently held a ‘Business Networking’ session with a group of Sri Lankan businessmen to discuss potential ‘Joint Venture’ opportunities. The meeting took place at the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce. The Malaysian delegation was led by the Associated Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Malaysia (ACCCIM) and the team consisted of 17 Malaysian businesses entities. The business session was organised by the Sri Lanka-Malaysia Business Council of the CCC. They represented business areas such as, manufacturing, property development, project management, warehousing and logistics, travel, garments, retail, road building technology, trade, construction, accounting and kitchen design etc. Nearly 30 local companies took part in the Business Networking session and among those firms were Aitken Spence Shipping, Aitken Spence PLC, Airport Garden Hotel, Agility Logistics, Berjaya Hotel, Civaro Lanka, Cliftex Industries, CML-MTD Construction, E.B. Creasy, FMJ Plastics, Free Lanka Granite, Global Logistics Service, Hayleys Global Beverages, Hettigoda Industries, International Business Consortium, Infomate, Island wide Marketing Services, Kenanga Investment Corporation, Macksons Paints Lanka, Mac Holdings, McLaren’s Holdings, Mechmar Cochran Lanka, Spear Global Holdings and Spillburg Holdings. Speaking during the Business Networking Event, Chairman of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce Mangala P.B. Yapa said, “Both the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce and the ACCCIM should work together to help each other’s nations to attract emerging opportunities in the Asean and the South Asian region.” Speaking at the event, Nilrukshi De Silva, President of the Sri Lanka-Malaysia Business Council said that, “I hope that this networking session will help find mutually beneficial business relationships between the two nations.” ACCCIM which has been formed in the year 1947 functions as the umbrella body of all the Chinese Chambers in Malaysia, which represents an overall membership of over 100,000 businesses.
