Manjula de Silva appointed Chairman CIMA Sri Lanka Board 2016

Manjula de Silva (FCMA CGMA) was inducted as the Chairman of the CIMA Board for 2016 at the induction ceremony of CIMA (The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants) held in Colombo on 19 January. 

Commenting on his appointment as the Chairman, Manjula stated: “I am very excited about my new role as the Chairman of the CIMA Sri Lanka Board. CIMA has played a very significant role in shaping my career. This gives me an excellent opportunity to pay back CIMA for what it has done for me. I want CIMA to become the top brand in business strategy education in Sri Lanka and I will do my utmost to make a significant stride in that direction this year.”

Manjula holds a BA Hons degree in Economics from the University of Colombo and an MBA from the London Business School, UK. He has pursued executive education at INSEAD Business School, France and the Harvard Business School, USA.  Having joined HNB Assurance Plc as its Chief Executive Officer in July 2004, Manjula served as its Managing Director from March 2006 to March 2015. In April 2015, he took up a new position as Chairman of the State-owned National Insurance Trust Fund (NITF). He is a Committee Member of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce and served as the Chairman of its Steering Committee on Insurance until recently.

The Deputy Chairman for the year will be Dr. Arul Sivagananathan (Managing Director - Hayleys Industrial Solutions Ltd. and Hayleys BPO) whilst the Vice Chairman will be Ms. Mahesha Amarasuriya (Senior Manager – Corporate Banking, Privilege Select Banking NDB Bank Plc).

The CIMA Sri Lanka board will see five new members who will serve for a period of three years. Three members have been nominated, namely Samantha Rajapaksa (Group Managing Director - Associated Motorways Ltd.), Dinesh Dharmadasa(Executive Director - Ceylon Tobacco Co. Plc) and Hasitha Premaratne (Chief Financial Officer - Brandix Lanka Ltd.) whilst Nishantha Weerakoon (Group Finance Director - CIC Holdings Plc) was re-elected and Shraepathy Attanayake (Director - Trico Logistics Ltd./ OMAK Technologies Ltd) was elected to this year’s board.
