As Sri Lanka begins making massive inroads towards large scale infrastructure and economic development in the country, the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (ICASL) will overview the nation’s progress towards the future, through an edifying seminar titled ‘Economic Outlook’.

Presented by International Monetary Fund’s (IMF) resident representative in Sri Lanka Dr. Koshy Mathai, the seminar scheduled for 21 July 2011 from 5.30 p.m. at the ICASL Auditorium, Colombo 7, will focus on the 2010 Annual Report of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka where Sri Lanka’s economy progress and achievements will be highlighted in detail and discussed at length.

As post war Sri Lanka focuses on improving the once volatile economy, while also implementing large scale infrastructure projects from power plants to highways, the ICASL, in keeping with its role as the national accounting body of the country, has organized this seminar realizing the importance of this topical subject.

Resource person, Dr. Koshy Mathai took up his posting as IMF Resident Representative for Sri Lanka and Maldives in October 2009. Previously, Dr. Mathai has worked in numerous countries including the United States, Turkey and Zambia.

He has been at the IMF for over twelve years and has completed his bachelor’s degree at Harvard and his PH.D at Stanford, both in economics.
