Meet the High Commissioner of Pakistan at the National Chamber

High Commissioner of Pakistan Major General Shakeel Hussain will be the special Guest Speaker at a session on “Bilateral Trade between Sri Lanka & Pakistan” organised by the National Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka, on Thursday 28 April 2016 from 3.00 p.m to 4.30 p.m at the Chamber Auditorium No 450 D.R. Wijewardena Mawatha, Colombo-10. He will be accompanied by the Deputy High Commissioner, Dr Sarfraz Sipra. At the session participants will get an opportunity to interact with the High Commissioner of Pakistan and officials of the High Commission, on trade related matters.

Pakistan is rich in natural resources, main industries being agricultural, and industrial- rice, fruits, textile and apparel, pharmaceuticals, food processing, construction etc. It is the sixth-most populated country, exceeding 199 million people. The capital is Islamabad, and other major cities are Karachi, Lahore, Rawalpindi. East Pakistan became Bangladesh from 1971.

Sri Lankan exports to Pakistan include coconut, natural rubber, copra, tea, betel leaves, spices etc while imports from Pakistan are Portland cement, aluminous cement, Woven fabrics of cotton, rice, medicaments, and edible oils among others.
