Mercantile Investments Annual Report wins LACP Award

Mercantile Investments and Finance PLC (MI) 2011/12 Annual Report was awarded the Bronze Award in the Financials – Diversified Services category at the recently held 2012 Vision Awards in New York.

The Vision Awards is organised by the League of American Communication Professionals (LACP) and is seen as one of the premier annual report competitions in the world.

Gerard Ondaatjie, Managing Director – MI, noted in his address: “Our Annual Report for the financial year 2011/12 was based on the theme of ‘Growing with the flow’, which encapsulates the strategic direction of our organisation. We see our operations permeating across different strata of Sri Lanka society, increasing our business inflow and widening the ambit of our operations.” Ondaatjie added: “Winning such an international award underlines our Annual Report’s world class status. Furthermore, in the local competition, organised by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka, our Annual Reports have been winning the gold award for the past 12 consecutive years in the finance company category. Hence, winning this award is certainly another feather in our cap.”  

The report was conceptualised and designed by Smart Media, The Annual Report Company. Vijith Kannangara, Chairman – Smart Media, said: “There is a global focus by organisations to raise the standards of their annual reports.” MI is a licensed finance company under the Finance Business Act No. 42 of 2011. MI was incorporated in Sri Lanka on 15 June 1964 under the Companies Ordinance No. 51 of 1938 and re-registered under the Company Act No.07 of 2007.
