This project, launched by SLITAD under the leadership of the president, Nalin Jayasuriya, will target five to seven schools a year in developing the “School kids’ leadership skills and Attitude Building Programme”.

Developed and conducted by Ajith Colonne (MBA) - the Director of Studies, SLITAD, the programme aims to create ‘right values’ for our rural and urban schoolchildren across Sri Lanka gearing them to meet the new challenges that will face the emerging youth of this country – both socially and organisationally. SLITAD announced that since this programme’s initiation in August 2010, eight schools have already benefited from this youth leadership, values and attitude building initiative.

This CSR programme concentrates on rural and village level school children including those in the North and East. Since the programme’s implementation two months ago, already eight schools have benefited from this youth leadership, value and attitude building initiative.

“We are pleased that Metropolitan is partnering with this project by donating a much needed digital camera that helps capture the progress as well as for training and reviewing the workshops,” said Nalin Jayasuriya, President of the Sri Lanka Institute of Training and Development (SLITAD)

“Metropolitan and Canon value the power of the youth in shaping the future and therefore, it is essential that they are equipped with the right attitudes, values and leadership qualities that they need to face the challenges of the 21st century. So we are pleased the SLITAD offered to partner with Metropolitan on this timely project,” said Taslim Rahaman, Director/CEO Metropolitan Regions.

Metropolitan donated a Canon A3100 power shot 12 pixel camera. Workshops’ participants will be able to review their activities and learning by filming the sessions using the Canon camera. Trainers will also be able to review and adjust their workshops to the requirements of the students.

SLITAD plans to take the workshops to the state, private sector and the general public in the months to come.
